Chittagong: Bangladesh reached 134-4 at stumps in its second innings but was still 325 runs behind on the third day of the first Test against Pakistan on Sunday.
Shakib Al Hasan and Mohammed Nazimuddin scored 41 apiece and remained unbeaten at the end of the day after Pakistan declared its first innings on 594-5
Bangladesh was dismissed for 135 in its first innings on Friday. In its second innings, opener Tamim Iqbal made 15 before he fell and Shariar Nafees scored 28. Mohammad Ashraful was out for a duck while Nasir Hossain was dismissed for 3.
Abdur Rehman, Saeed Ajmal, Hafeez and Aizaz Cheema took one wicket each for Pakistan. Earlier, Younis Khan smashed a double century and Asad Shafiq joined Mohamamd Hafeez in scoring centuries for Pakistan.
Khan reached 200 for the third time in Tests, compiling his runs off just 290 balls with 18 fours and three sixes. Pakistan immediately declared when he reached the mark, giving Bangladesh the difficult task of batting the bulk of seven sessions to stave off defeat.
Shafiq was the only Pakistan batsman to be dismissed on Sunday, falling for 104 as he became the third player to reach triple figures in the innings, following Hafeez's 143 on day two.
Pakistan is in the midst of an unbeaten streak stretching back to the one-day series against Sri Lanka in the United Arab Emirates last month. It swept the one-day series against Bangladesh 3-0 and came out on top in the one-off Twenty20 match.
Bangladesh has won just three of its 71 Test matches since gaining Test status in 2000.
